Advice for Caregivers
Your role as a carer for someone living with Coronary Artery Disease is important.
Here are examples of ways you can help:
- Manage medications
- Keep notes on doctor visits, appointments and insurance
- Offer to exercise together
- Don't smoke
- Help learn to read labels on foods and shop for better heart health
- Help plan and prepare heart-healthy meals
- Go along to doctor appointments to help take notes and provide additional information or insights into your loved one's condition.
- Listen to your loved one's concerns and frustrations and offer support.
- Encourage your loved one to join a support group to share experiences and thoughts with others in the same situation. (Hospitals and community centres often have support groups.)
